Why this site
This site is a static-first public lab for NYC Open Data products. It is designed for policy makers, researchers, advocates, and the public.
What this starter does
- Uses R to pull and prepare data
- Uses Quarto for the public site shell
- Uses Leaflet + JavaScript for the interactive map and lens
- Targets GitHub Pages for public hosting
First product
The first prototype is NYC 311 Lens. It demonstrates how a draggable circle can summarize what is inside a selected local area.
Note
This starter ships with sample 311-style points so the prototype can be reviewed before wiring in a live NYC Open Data pipeline.
